Learn the history.
For individuals and allies outside the LGBTQA+ community (and even those inside it) a great place to start is become acquainted with the history of the LGBTQA+ community. Many resources are accessible online, including the Human Rights Campaign , them , the Trevor Project , and PFLAG .
On campus, the Gender and Sexuality Center maintains an LGBTQA+ library with a selection of 1,200 nonfiction and fiction books to check out for free.
Find gender-affirming clothing.
Visit the Lavender Closet in Nebraska Union, Room 346. The Closet is a donation-based resource for students to get free gender-affirming clothing. On Instagram, follow @unlgsc to see outfits made entirely of garments from the Closet.

Attend events celebrating LGBTQA+ identities.
We recommend the Night of the Living Drag Show on Oct 27, 2023 in the Nebraska Union Centennial Room. EVERYONE is welcome to attend, especially individuals who have never been to a live drag show.
It’s free to attend yet everyone is encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item or personal hygiene product to donate to Husker Pantry.

Prioritize donations.
An excellent way to celebrate the LGBTQA+ community is to support campus resources through donations.
- The Lavender Closet is the GSC’s most popular resource as it provides gender-affirming clothing so that people can look and feel their best in their own clothes.
- Menstrual product donations are another way to provide to the community. Upon request, the GSC packages kits with pads, liners, tampons, menstrual cups, and more.
- Assist LGBTQA+ and allied students experiencing a financial emergency or unanticipated expenses with a monetary donation to the Student Support Fund. Eligible students receive a grant to assist with the short-term financial hardship.
