The football away game on Friday, Sept. 29, wasn’t like any other this season. In addition to being on a Friday, this also was the game for fans to take to the field at Memorial Stadium. Over one thousand students and UNL Family Weekend attendees walked onto the field to cheer for the Huskers on the big screen.

“It was amazing to watch the students as they walked onto the field for the first time,” said Derrick Gulley, event director for Campus NightLife. “Their eyes lit up with excitement and awe. It’s definitely an experience that they won’t forget.”

A photo booth, several large inflatables, and footballs added to the spirited atmosphere.

“The families really loved the photo booth. I think having something they could take with them as a keepsake was a really unique and personal touch.”

Gulley says that Campus NightLife plans the watch party annually – and for some students, this might be their first game experience at Memorial Stadium.

“As I talked to a group of freshmen at the event they expressed how happy they were that we had an event like this because they couldn’t afford to purchase tickets for a home game and felt like they were missing out.”

The watch party is a free event that includes refreshments at halftime.
