Two Recognized Student Organizations at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln received $1,000 each toward their proposed projects through the Center for Civic Engagement’s ‘Give Back. Big.’ program.

Resilient Women plans to host the Resilient Women of Color Conference in March 2018. The conference aims to help high school women of color develop skills to reach their full potential. Student organizers will serve as mentors as participants attend sessions on confidence, leadership, overcoming adversities and self-care.

Camp Kesem will put the funds toward the 2018 summer camp season where student organizers expect to serve 110 children impacted by a parent’s cancer. The camp helps children build a peer support network that understands their unique needs, builds confidence and strengthens their communication skills. The weeklong camp is free to families.

Since 2011, Give Back. Big. grants have helped students change the world around them. Annually one winning organization is selected by a committee of staff, faculty and students and one by community vote.
