Monday, September 11, 2017 Delta Sigma Theta and Sigma Lambda Beta earn Stroll Off top honors

Delta Sigma Theta and Sigma Lambda Beta at University of Nebraska-Lincoln win the Stroll Off competition.

Students, alumni and the university community packed the Centennial Room in the Nebraska Union on Friday, Sept. 8, to enjoy performances by multicultural fraternities and sororities during the annual Stroll Off.

Hosted by the Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services (OASIS) in conjunction with the National Pan-Hellenic Council and Multicultural Greek Councils at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, this year’s event included three fraternities and three sororities competing for recognition plaques and a cash prize. At the end of the night, it was Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Sigma Lambda Beta who wooed the judges.

“It was my first one I performed in and I really enjoyed it," said Maya Evans, a senior member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. "The stroll off shows how proud I am to be in my organization; it also shows creativity and the love we have for one another because it takes so much preparing to showcase our talents as an organization.”

Strolling and stepping began in historically African American Greek organizations in the early 1900s. Today it is a showcase of pride and an ongoing tradition in multicultural fraternities and sororities. View additional event photos.
