Celebrating the dimensions of love at A Love Affair Gala

On Feb. 17, students, staff and faculty gathered in the Ross Van Brunt Visitor’s Center for Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services' A Love Affair Gala. The gala, free for students, was a celebration of Black History Month and the various dimensions of love.

Rev. Karla Cooper opened the gala with a message. The reverend emphasized that love is instinctive, and people must love themselves before they can love others.

Union Take Over draws 450 students
On Thurs., Feb. 2, Campus NightLife hosted Union Take Over on the second floor of the Nebraska Union where an estimated 450 students enjoyed laser tag, glow-in-the-dark miniature golf, cupcake and tile decorating, a photo booth, and games of Family Feud led by The Daily Nebraskan.

Student organization honored for raising $25,000 for suicide prevention

Out of the Darkness, a student organization now in its second year at Nebraska, was honored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) for raising more than $25,000 and being a Top 10 Fundraising Walk in 2016. The campus group ranked fifth among campuses nationwide. An award was presented to Nebraska representatives at the 2017 AFSP Chapter Leadership Conference in Orange County.
