Tuesday, April 25, 2017 Data shows Nebraska students who live in University Housing more likely to graduate
A 2016 report from the Bureau of Sociological Research (BOSR) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln shows that living in University Housing positively impacts student graduation and retention rates.
The study, which analyzed housing rosters and graduation data from 2006 through 2016, found that first-year students living in University Housing were retained at 80.6 percent, as opposed to only 76.1 percent for students who never lived in University Housing.
The report also shows that living in University Housing positively impacts student graduation rates. Of the students who were no longer enrolled, 60.4 percent who lived in University Housing graduated; only 47.4 percent of students who never lived in University Housing graduated in the same period.
According to the BOSR report, the length of time that students live in University Housing also positively impacts the probability of graduation and the student’s final grade point average. The charts below show an increased likelihood of graduation and higher GPA based on the number of years students chose to live in University Housing.
